Escape from Alcatraz

“Escape from Alcatraz!” was the typical Middle School response to the question, “What are you going to do when you get out of school?” Kids are tired and ready for the freedom of summer. Brad’s response was different. “I won’t get to sleep until 3 AM every night. My brother will keep me up.” Brad’s older brother has been caught dealing drugs multiple times, and the structure of school is a refuge from the chaos Brad experiences in his home. He loves his brother, but he doesn’t want to be like him.

One of the places Brad “sleeps” is an apartment a couple of blocks from The Rock. He knows he can come get lunch, hang out with his friends, and take part in summer activities every week day. He wants to go to Camp at Prairie River and will do service projects to earn his way there. This summer, Brad will enjoy a break from studying, like every other Middle Schooler, but your support for South Central Minnesota Youth for Christ will give him a place to escape from disorder and confusion, so he can find rest.

In Christ,
